The Lionesses have achieved the extraordinary once more, carving their legacy into footballing history with consecutive triumphs at the Women’s Euros 2025 Final. England defeated Spain in a heart-stopping clash that stretched to 120 minutes before prevailing 3-1 on penalties, with Chloe Kelly delivering the decisive spot-kick, reports the Express.

Establishing herself as an England legend in the showpiece event, Chloe confidently dispatched her penalty past Spain’s Cata Coll to secure victory. BBC Sports commentator Vicki Sparks captured the moment perfectly: “This is it, this is the moment for Chloe Kelly. Can she be England’s heroine? Chloe Kelly… yes she can!”

Kelly rose to the occasion magnificently, rescuing England from perilous situations on three separate occasions. Teaming up with emerging talent Michelle Agyemang, the duo rekindled the country’s belief in achieving a magnificent triumph that delivered a “proper English performance” culminating in continental success.

Following the trophy presentation, Chloe was heard declaring: “The first time was so nice, we had to do it twice.”

Yet beyond the football field, she remains remarkably private about her personal affairs. Having wed her long-time partner last year, early 2025 almost witnessed her departure from professional football entirely.

Which team does Chloe Kelly play for?

The start of 2025 proved challenging for England’s champion, as she spoke publicly about her treatment at former club Manchester City, claiming they had ‘assassinated her character’, according to The Guardian. The player revealed in January that she couldn’t envisage “a future” at Man City, before Arsenal secured her signature.

There had been chatter about Kelly’s limited game time for the Manchester club, having only started once in the 2024/25 season. She had previously expressed a desire to leave football before her move to London.

Breaking her silence on the matter, she made a last-ditch appeal to be allowed to exit the club. In an Instagram post in January, Chloe wrote: “A message from me… For a long time I’ve tried to work through professional challenges privately, not commenting publicly, but with my situation increasingly being debated in the public domain I feel it’s time to be open and transparent and you heard it from my perspective.

“A key lesson I have learned in my life is that whilst I can’t control someone’s negative behaviour towards me, I can control how long I am prepared to tolerate it.

“From Day One, I’ve felt so much love from my teammates and the fans. With my contract expiring in June I’ve accepted my future is not at this club beyond then.

“With the Euros fast approaching, this summer is a huge one and I want to be in a position to give it my best shot to represent my country. Something which has always filled me with such pride and it is a true honour to do so. However to be dictated whom I can and can’t join with only 4 months left of the football season is having a huge impact on not only my career but my mental well being. The situation has dragged on for too long, it’s disappointing and not right.

“I’m at a pivotal point in my life and my career is so important to me and is very disappointing that the sport we love can make you feel this way especially after there’s been so much growth in our sport. This is why I’m posting this because I want to make you all aware that we as players dedicate our lives to our sport and our clubs but our dreams can be crushed whilst we live in silence.

“I am human and I have and will give everything to the game that I love. Ultimately I just want to be happy again.”

Just 24 hours later, Chloe revealed her homecoming to Arsenal, sharing a throwback snap of herself in the famous red jersey with the caption “Pursuit of happyness”. The talented midfielder secured her move to North London on a free transfer, leaving Manchester City behind.

Her Arsenal debut came in February, marking the start of what would become a trophy-laden chapter. Chloe’s switch proved golden as she lifted the Champions League crown against Barcelona in May, celebrating alongside England colleagues Leah Williamson, Lotte Wubben-Moy, Beth Mead and Alessia Russo.

Her permanent deal with the Gunners was confirmed at the start of July, following an emotional farewell to City supporters and former teammates. Arsenal Women posted footage of Kelly entering the dressing room with the simple question: “How could she not?”

The 2024/25 campaign concluded with both a Champions League triumph and her second Women’s Euros victory adorning her trophy cabinet.

How much does Chloe Kelly get paid?

The BBC reported that players in the Women’s Super League are earning an average salary of £47,000 a year. Since 2020, both England’s women’s and men’s teams have been receiving the same match fee of £2,000 per game.

The prize pot for the Women’s Euros has soared to €41million (£35,633,364), marking a significant 156 per cent increase from the €16million (£13,905,703) in 2022. UEFA previously announced that all participating nations and clubs will be rewarded with record pay outs.

Each of the 16 teams qualifying for the final tournament will get a fixed €1.8 million (£1,564,315) participation fee, which makes up 70 per cent of the total prize money. Chloe celebrated her first tournament as a married woman at the Euros 2025. Her husband, Scott Moore, was spotted in the stands cheering as she scored England’s final penalty.

Euros spectators couldn’t help but notice the footballer sporting custom shin pads adorned with a sketch of her and her partner on their nuptial day. Chloe Kelly’s romance began while she was at Everton, having joined them on loan from Arsenal in 2016 before making the move permanent two years later.

While Chloe dazzled on the field, Scott took care of the turf as a groundsman, leading to their charming first encounter. It wasn’t long before he slid into her Instagram DMs, sparking the start of something special.

The Mirror reports that their initial date was anything but high-end. Reflecting on the memory, Chloe remarked: “We got a little monkey and every time I see it, it reminds me of when we went to IKEA.”

The couple’s engagement unfolded in December 2023 amidst the awe-inspiring Northern Lights in Finnish Lapland, followed by a July 2024 wedding at Merrydale Manor in Cheshire, where Kelly donned an exquisite Galia Lahav Elysee bridal gown.

Their first anniversary was celebrated during this year’s Euros, with Chloe posting a series of photos on Instagram captioned: “One year on from the Happiest of my life. Happy anniversary to my (white heart emoji).”
