A woman is so fed up with her in-laws never catering to her being a vegetarian and always serving her food with meat in – and slams them for being ‘rude’ about her diet
One woman is so fed up with her in-law’s cooking, that she’s tempted to never visit again.
As kind as it is to be invited for dinner, you’d like to think you’re diet requirements are going to be taken into consideration, right? This is the battle one woman is facing as she is always served meat when she visits her in-laws.
She explained how she’s been a vegetarian the whole time she’s been with her husband, and they have been together for nine years and married for seven, so can’t believe after all this time they still don’t take her being vegetarian seriously but feels rude when she has to leave a load of food on her plate simply because she can’t eat it.
The wife claimed every time she goes over for dinner, they never consider her when cooking their meals and can be “sensitive”. Fed up with her situation, she took to Mumsnet to vent about her in-laws and slammed them for being “rude” for not catering for her, but also admitted it also looks rude that she never eats all of her dinner.
The disgruntled wife wrote: “Husband and I have been married for seven years, together nine. I have been a vegetarian the entire time.” She then explained: “Every time we come here to eat, I’ll be offered/given something containing meat. I have to then feel rude and say no thank you.
“For example yesterday the peas were ready prepared with mint and bloody pancetta. My plate was dished up for me, so I ended up having to leave a load of food on my plate. It looks rude from my side, but I think it’s rude of them.”
People were quick to offer suggestions on how she can overcome this, as one person simply wrote: “Just refuse to go there to eat anymore,” to which she replied: “I wish. But I can’t do that!”
Another person suggested: “Next time you’re invited tell them you’ll bring your own meal, and do it even if they try to persuade you otherwise.” The wife then responded: “They’re incredibly over-sensitive people and they’d take it so personally and cause problems. They really do control us with their moods. Got another lunch today, let’s hope the roast potatoes aren’t in goose fat like normal.”
