Aldi is urging shoppers to check its store opening times online to see if your nearest branch will remain open this Easter weekend – here is what you need to know
Aldi is adjusting its opening times for the Easter weekend – so make sure you’re aware of when your nearest shop is due to open and close.
The discount supermarket now has over 1,000 stores across the UK. Easter Monday is a bank holiday, but Aldi shops in England and Wales will once again reopen and will welcome shoppers from 8am until 8pm. Stores in England and Wales were closed on Easter Sunday, to give staff a rest and time to spend with their families. Scotland stores remained open on Easter Sunday.
The opening times of some stores may vary, so you should check your postcode on the Aldi website to see when your local will open over Easter. A notice on the Aldi website reads: “Last minute hot cross buns? Or stocking up on Easter eggs because you ‘accidentally’ already ate them? No need to stress, crack on with your Easter shop.”
It comes after Aldi revealed 13 “priority” locations where it wants to open new stores in the coming years. The supermarket has a long term plan to open a further 500 new branches. Around 100 of those new stores are planned for areas within the M25, especially London as Aldi says there is “strong demand” for stores in the capital.
Some of the areas in London the supermarket is looking to open stores include Bromley, Walthamstow, Notting Hill and Barnet. Aldi plans to invest £500million investment in the new 100 stores, which it says will create 3,500 new jobs in the region. From June 1 this year, Aldi will pay staff £12.40 an hour nationally, with those in London receiving a wage of £13.65 – this is up from £12 and £13.55 now.
