The Duchess of Sussex keeps a tight circle of friends but has previously been friends with Hollywood stars, royal connections and Chelsea elite but many of her friendships appear to have run cold
The Duchess of Sussex’s former posse of girlfriends appears to have drifted or fallen away, with the former actress appearing to now keep a much smaller circle.
The actress previously held strong friendships with actresses and actors like Gina Torres, Sarah Rafferty, Priyanka Chopra and her on-screen partner Patrick J. Adams. However, it appears that since entering the royal family, Meghan Markle has cut her circle and no longer keeps the Hollywood group she had before.
Meghan at one point was believed to be best friends with stylist Jessica Mulroney, with the fashion guru’s daughter acting as a flower girl at Meghan’s 2018 wedding to Prince Harry.

Another female pal that was often seen with Meghan is Violet von Westenholz, who is responsible for matchmaking Harry and Meghan in 2016. Violet has been friends with Prince Harry since they were both teenagers, and regularly joined the royal family on skiing trips abroad.
Despite being close at one point, it’s not known if Meghan and Violet are still in contact with the last time Violet spoke about the Duchess being an interview six years ago in 2018.
Another fleeting friendship in Meghan’s past includes Made In Chelsea star Millie Mackintosh, with the pair meeting at a hotel event in 2015 and appearing to form a bond as the Duchess began visiting the UK in the early days of her relationship with Prince Harry. However, the friendship appeared to be short-lived as last May Millie revealed that she felt ‘snubbed’ by Meghan and described her last message from the Duchess as being ‘abrupt’.
Before Meghan Markle met Prince Harry, the Suits actress also counted actress Priyanka Chopra among her closest friends. The pair regularly appeared on each other’s social media, yet the friendship has appeared to cool in recent years. In February 2019, it was reported that Priyanka was ‘crushed’ when Meghan Markle didn’t attend her wedding to Nick Jonas the year before and Priyanka was noticeably absent from Meghan’s New York baby shower.
Meghan also used to be close with her Suits co-stars including Patrick J. Adams, Gina Torres and Sarah Rafferty but the friendships have fallen to the wayside with the actors no longer close with the Duchess. At the Golden Globes earlier this year, Gina Torres who played Jessica Pearson in the legal drama alongside Meghan revealed that the Suits cast have a Whatsapp group that had been going crazy with talk of a possible spin off series. Yet when pushed by a journalist if Meghan was part of that group, Torres shut down the conversation as she revealed she ‘doesn’t have her number’.
One member of the Suits cast that Meghan does retain a friendship with is actress Abigail Spencer. The pair have been very close friends for the last 17 years and even worked together on the hit legal drama Suits. Abigail later attended Meghan’s wedding to Prince Harry and was a guest at her New York City baby shower in 2019. The pair continue to keep in touch, with Abigail featured in Meghan and Harry’s Netflix series after they stepped back the Royal Family in 2020.
Later this year it’s thought that the Duchess may accompany her husband Prince Harry as he returns to the UK next month for a celebration of the Invictus Games. Meghan has been back to the UK since the pair stepped back from their royal duties in 2020 but it’s been on rare occasions which included the funeral for Queen Elizabeth II. However she did not return for King Charles III’s coronation last year, which Harry attended alone.
