The Met Office has forecast a potentially miserable end to what has been a tumultuous summer. It’s been no secret that, although we’ve had intense heat, we’ve also had wretched downpours and thunder.
However the UK’s national forecaster has its long range forecast out, spanning from Monday, August 18, to Monday, September 1. Although we may see desirable weather, we may also catch horrible weather too.
It reads: “High pressure, and therefore fairly settled conditions overall, appears most likely for the second half of August. Although dry weather is likely to dominate, periods of rain or showers and thunderstorms may develop at times, these perhaps more likely later in the period. Above average temperatures overall seem most likely, with the potential for hot spells to develop, especially in the east and south.”
Fingers crossed that the elements are on our side. Other forecasters – such as WX Charts – don’t have a long-range forecast quite like The Met Office, but it does have a weather map covering August 18, August 19, and August 20.
Fortunately it suggests decent enough weather, with no rain drenching the capital. But before we despair too much we have to hope and pray that Storm Loris doesn’t affect the capital.
At the time of writing The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning for wind covering Scotland, and a yellow alert warning of the same thing for the north of England, with nothing covering London. However it’s important to remain vigilant at all times.
