A South London man who poured boiling water on his friend in a bid to steal his Universal Credit has been jailed for 13 years. Stafford Manahan, 43, poured boiling water over his victim then stole his bank card and PIN.
A tweet from Croydon MPS shared on X (formerly Twitter) today said: “Between September 17 and 23 2023, Stafford Manahan committed robbery and GBH offences against the victim by pouring boiling water on him causing serious injury to 35 per cent of his body, stole the victim’s bank card, including pin, and used it. He received 13 years for GBH and two years for blackmail.”
The victim received serious injury to 35 percent of his body, the Metropolitan Police have said. According to reporting in News Shopper, Manahan had threatened the torture if his victim didn’t give over his PIN number. After the victim refused, Manahan scalded the man several times, leaving his victim with severe burns to more than half of his body.
