Forecasters are expecting temperatures to rise once again after a gloomy July and start to August. Three heatwaves were recorded in London across the end of May, June and early July as temperatures shot up to 34.7C.
Londoners are set to experience long sells of sunshine and warm weather once more with highs of 31C expected next week. The Met Office says this improved weather spell is due to the remnants of tropical Storm Dexter dragging warm from the southwest across the UK.
The sunny spell will begin on Friday (August 8) in London with the mercury peaking at 25C. Temperatures will then steadily climb over the weekend to 26C before eventually reaching 29C on Monday (August 11) and 30C on both Tuesday and Wednesday (August 12 and 13).
Netweather is even more confident of high temperatures in London next week, projecting the mercury to reach 31C on Tuesday.
Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist, Steven Keates, said: “We’re confident that temperatures will increase markedly by the start of next week, reaching the low 30s Celsius in parts of England on Monday and perhaps the mid 30s in a few places on Tuesday. However, the length of this warm spell is still uncertain, and it is possible that high temperatures could persist further into next week, particularly in the south.”
Long term forecasts for the UK as a whole suggest there could be more thunderstorms in August, but on the whole we should experience dry, settled weather.
