The monarch has an ’emotional’ day coming up in the calendar, and now a former royal butler has revealed how he will likely celebrate with her wife Queen Camilla

King Charles has been advised to avoid most “public-facing duties” while he continues treatment for cancer, and although he’s still continuing to work behind the scenes, his nephew Peter Phillips revealed that the monarch is seriously “frustrated” by the limitations on him at the moment.

However, the King has got one major support he can always lean on in times of difficulty – his wife Queen Camilla – who has been attending what would have been joint engagements solo, and representing her husband at events he is currently unable to attend.

This year marks the couple’s 19th wedding anniversary, and now a former royal butler has revealed that this year is likely to be an “emotional” and “poignant” celebration for the couple.

Charles and Camilla first met in 1970, and although they only tied the knot in 2005, the couple’s love story has spanned much of their lives.

The expert, Grant Harrold, worked for King Charles at Highgrove – the monarch’s Gloucestershire residence – for seven years as a butler, and was even in attendance on Charles and Camilla’s wedding day.

“I can’t believe it’s 19 years this year. I was there that day, in the church. They’ll celebrate it, but they’re not big [on celebrations]. They don’t have parties or anything like that at all,” the former royal butler explained, speaking on behalf of Spin Genie.

However, in his view, this year will be an exceptionally “poignant” one for the couple, in light of the health challenges that Charles is currently facing. “I’m sure this year will be a bit more poignant and probably a bit emotional with everything going on.

“I have no doubt they’ll be together for the occasion, and I’m sure behind closed doors, they’ll probably have a romantic dinner with just the two of them. With the King’s treatment, he might not have any other people there, so it is likely to be private between the two of them.”

He explained that the couple more often than not celebrate simply by themselves, “It’s normally marked privately between the two of them. I’m sure there’ll be a card and then a gift, very similar to the way that other people celebrate it, they’ll probably do the same.”

However, Harrold thinks that next year when they reach the official 20-year milestone in their marriage, they may opt for a bigger celebration and throw some kind of party.
