Hopeful punters were left raging when they realised a building with a Wetherspoons sign on the front was not open, but their patronage was not wanted anyway
A building that has a Wetherspoons sign above it has people making the same mistake every weekend. The popular boozers can be found across the country and offer notoriously cheap pints and food. But a building in Watford has been a spot of confusion for many members of the public.
Laura, 32, has started filming the incidents because of how frequently they happen, with many people left confused by the Wetherspoons sign. It’s a private building that has tricked many, including the group who were left shouting “f**** sake” as they realised their error. The four men were spotted outside of the building and looked defeated by their mistake.
Despite it being a regular occurrence, the hilarity never stops for Laura, who says people don’t realise the private building is not a Wetherspoons pub.
Laura said: “It happens every weekend. Most people just walk up to the door and try the handle. They didn’t even realise, they just walked straight into the reception and the woman on the desk asked if they had an appointment.
“I just happened to film cause I could hear them from my bedroom shouting ‘f**** sake’.” The hilarious incident was recorded by Laura on Saturday, August 8.
One viewer joked: “They should have a bar for these people who’ve made the effort.” Another person added: “Poor lads, gutted. Should’ve gone to Specsavers.”
Others agreed there should be a bar put in place for those who are tricked by the Wetherspoon sign hanging over the building. Calls for the building to fit a bar were jokingly suggested by one user.
They suggested: “Not having a bar in there is poor form.” Another has suggested the sign may need changing to prevent confusion in future. That person wrote: “They should probably have ‘head office’ or similar written. Still funny, though.”
Another has recalled a similar experience with Greggs ‘ Factory in Manchester, saying they turned up at the establishment expecting a sausage roll, but couldn’t purchase one.
They wrote: “Easily done. I turned up to the Greggs’ factory in Manchester once. Couldn’t buy a sausage roll.”
