Annie Knight went viral after claiming she got fired from her job when they discovered her side hustle – now she’s hitting back at the cruel and often sexist comments she receives online

A woman who reportedly got fired from her job when bosses discovered her side hustle has hit back at the sex-shaming she recieves online.

Annie Knight is often applauded for being open about her busy sex life, having previously revealed she slept with 300 people last year. But she also gets hit with an onslaught of sexist hate.

The Aussie internet star makes adult content online and has vowed her next challenge is to double that figure to 600. She previously went viral after claiming she had been axed from her job after bosses discovered her side gig.

Annie started out discussing her sex life online “just for fun” at first and because she wanted to break the stigma of women who are sexual. Her audience was enjoying the content so she decided to set herself “goals” – one of which was to sleep with 300 people in a year.

However her choice came with its drawbacks and although she does get some supportive messages, many are from vicious trolls “disgusted” by her sex life. “People judge me because I slept with 300 people last year,” she says. “I get a lot of judgement from a lot of different people.”

Annie shared some of the comments she gets in a film with Love Don’t Judge. The cruel, often sexist remarks included: “You’re just a few years away from clinical depression,” and “nothing empowering about this, just makes you look easy.” Another said: “definitely was dropped as a baby”.

Despite the huge amount of hate she receives, Annie says the only opinions she cares about are those of her friends and family. She says her mum is totally supportive of her decision, despite being “shocked” at first when she found out about her daughter’s day job through an article on Facebook.

Her mum says in the clip that it took her a little while to accept the adult content. Her first concern was what would Annie do when she reached “a certain age”. But she says she proved she knows exactly what she’s doing and she doesn’t have any concerns anymore. “I trust you. Whatever you choose to do, I’ll be there for you,” she says.

On Annie’s busy sex life, her mum reflects: “Perhaps you want to try to show that a woman can have control of what she does in her life, that she can say no… she can say yes. Consent is such an issue at the moment, maybe it’s not bad for men to see that a woman can make decisions about herself.”

One of her closest pals, Alex, also found out about her friend’s adult content online, through an Instagram post. They lived together last year, which was when Alex came across it. She was also shocked at first but says Annie was open and honest about it when she approached her, but her concern was over her physical health.

“There was probably a little bit of a side to me that I think had safety issues, like I did wonder how are you sort of safe with all of the guys that you have been with the last year,” Alex says.

However Annie, who says the highest number of people she’s slept with in a day is five, reassures her friend that she practises safe sex using a condom. She also reveals they do full STI checks every two weeks. “I feel like I do it very well, but obviously there’s always risk and so I get where you’re coming from,” she tells her worried pal.

Her main mission is to prove women can be sexual, just like men. “What’s the difference between a man sleeping with five people in a day and a woman sleeping with five people in a day?” she asks. “I just don’t understand why when a man does it they celebrate him and they think he’s a legend but when a woman does it we get called names and ridiculed and made fun of, it’s just not fair.”

For other women who want to explore their sexuality, Annie would say: “Just go for it. Don’t worry about other people’s judgement, you don’t have to put it out there on the internet like I do. I’m trying to beat the stigma around women being sexual and honestly, like, I feel amazing. It really is one of the best things I’ve ever done, so highly recommend.
