The star fist bumped one shocked customer, telling him ‘you look like me’
Comedy legend Adam Sandler made a casual appearance at a Battersea coffee shop over the weekend, leaving surprised customers in disbelief. The actor, best known for roles in Happy Gilmore, Grown Ups and Uncut Gems, popped into Il Molino, an Italian spot on Battersea Park Road, on Sunday (November 23).
Donning a green parka and smart shacket, the New Yorker reportedly “walked in like normal” and happily chatted to those inside. One local resident and long-time fan, Adrià Cepero Santos, described bumping into the star as an “amazing coincidence”.
He said: “I noticed him straight away and his reaction was unexpected. He gave me a fist bump while saying ‘wow, you look like me’ with a smile. He made a joke about how hot the coffee was – just very friendly and chill. It was amazing meeting him and having a chat.”
The languages teacher, originally from Tarragona, also took the opportunity to ask about fellow Spaniard Juancho Hernangómez. The basketball player and Sandler co-starred in Netflix film Hustle in 2022.
Adrià continued: “He only said good things, basically that he was a really nice, cool guy.” Sandler shared that he is in town ‘for something to do with a film’, and took the time to ask Adria about himself.
The 59-year-old is no stranger to London, having previously been spotted shooting hoops in Clapham Common in 2024 and again last month. The October sighting followed the premiere of new movie Jay Kelly, where he stars alongside George Clooney and Laura Dern.
However, he’s not the only random celebrity sighting Londoners have reported recently. Sandra Bullock and Diane Wiest were pictured shooting scenes for Practical Magic 2 in a very unlikely suburb.
The Hamptons, in Worcester Park, had been transformed into a seaside village that looks like something straight out of New England. Known for its Colonial weatherboard-style buildings, the housing development boasted fake shop fronts, food stands and even American cars reminiscent of the 1998 classic.
Slow Horses star Jack Lowden has been spotted filming his role as Mr Darcy for Netflix’s Pride and Prejudice in Spitalfields.
