Cleaning your home can be a daunting and often unpleasant task, particularly when you’re preparing to tackle areas that are usually overlooked in your daily routine. We already have so much on our plates when it comes to keeping our homes spick and span, which means many of us neglect some tasks that aren’t immediately apparent to us.

One thing that often slips our minds is radiators. While most of us use them almost daily during the colder months to heat our homes, they often sit neglected for the rest of the year, leading to an accumulation of dust and grime.

However, a self-proclaimed ‘queen of cleaning’ named Lynsey has shared her simple trick on how to make your radiators dust-free in minutes by adding a household item to your vacuum cleaner.

“When was the last time you removed your radiator cover and cleaned behind it? This is a job I like to do a few times a year,” she said at the beginning of her TikTok video.

She then proceeded to share her preferred method of cleaning her radiators, and all you need to do is add one thing to the end of your vacuum cleaner.

“I had an old box of tumble dryer sheets, so I used one over my vacuum nozzle to pick up even more dust,” she disclosed to her 149,700 TikTok followers.

While it might seem strange to cover the end of your vacuum that’s designed to suck up any dirt and dust, she explained that the added static from the tumble dryer sheet helps to grab all the grime.

“It was so dusty back there, and honestly seeing how much I collected was so satisfying,” she said as she showed the now black tumble dryer sheet, explaining that dust had clumped on the wall behind the radiator as well as on the inside of the radiator cover.

But that wasn’t all, as Lynsey then proceeded to give the radiator cover a clean as well with the vacuum to remove most of the dust from it.

“After hoovering, I wiped everything down with warm soapy water, and just look at the dust that settles on the knobs,” she explained as she wiped the dust off with a cloth, showing just how much dirt had been hiding in plain sight.

“If you suffer from allergies, dust could be lurking in places you don’t even see,” she said at the end of the video.

People quickly flocked to the comment section of the video to praise Lynsey for her brilliant tip. However, most people were more impressed by her radiator covers.

“Wait, radiator covers exist and people actually use it?” one baffled viewer asked.

“Just get an air purifier,” another person argued, claiming the filter is easier to clean than the radiator.
