Aggie MacKenzie has shared a touching tribute to the “unforgettable” Kim Woodburn, who sadly passed away at 83 after a brief illness. The How Clean Is Your House? co-star and reality TV legend, who died yesterday (Monday, June 16), was remembered by Aggie for her “incredible strength” and complex character.
Speaking to The Sun, Aggie reflected: “Kim was a tormented soul, but now she’s finally at peace. We clashed often. Behind the fierce persona was deep pain and incredible strength. She survived because she had to. I hope she’s resting now. She was an unforgettable woman.”
Kim Woodburn became a household name in 2002 when Channel 4 sought a cleaner with a “funny temperament” for How Clean Is Your House?, leading to her pairing with Aggie and their memorable run from 2003 to 2009.
Jedward, the music duo who shared the Celebrity Big Brother house with Kim in 2017, also mourned the loss of the ‘Queen of Clean’, known for her legendary one-liners and fiery moments on the then-Channel 5 show.
John and Edward Grimes, 33, took to social media platform X to share their condolences: “Rest in Peace Kim Woodburn. You will forever be our Celebrity Big Brother Friend! We grew up watching you, and to share those memories together. You will be truly missed for the TV gold you created for all generations.”
Kate Lawler, 45, who was crowned the first female champion of Big Brother back in 2002, paid homage to Kim on Instagram after This Morning’s heartfelt tribute. She shared: “Loved Kim. x”.
Scores of fans have since addded to the tributes, celebrating the enduring entertainment Kim brought into their homes over the years. One viewer shared on social media: “Sad to hear about the passing of Kim Woodburn. A true TV icon, bold, funny and unforgettable. She brought joy to so many and will be deeply missed. Rest in peace Kim.”
Another fan expressed their sadness on social media, saying: “RIP Kim Woodburn. You’ll be remembered. You were my fave sassy cleaning lady. I’m sad to hear you are gone (sic).”
Also paying respects online, one individual wrote of their shock: “[I] can’t believe Kim Woodburn has died, an absolute icon of reality TV who I quote daily (and will continue to do so). RIP to a legend (sic).”
Kim, having charmed the nation as runner-up on ITV’s I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! in 2009, had previously told her followers that she was unable to produce personal video messages on Cameo due to health issues.
In March, she addressed her followers, stating: “No more videos for now, my loves, I need to get better!”. An announcement on Kim’s Instagram profile also said: “We regret to tell you that Kim is unable to record any further videos for the foreseeable future, due to a health problem. Kim sends her love to you all.”
News of Kim’s passing broke this morning (Tuesday, June 17). A spokesperson for the celebrity stated: “It is with immense sadness that we let you know our beloved Kim Woodburn passed away yesterday following a short illness. Kim was an incredibly kind, caring, charismatic and strong person.”
They added: “Her husband Peter is heartbroken at the loss of his soulmate. We are so proud of the amazing things that Kim achieved in her life and career. We kindly ask that Kim’s husband and close friends are given the time and privacy they need to grieve. We will not be releasing any further details.”
