Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, 40, was on the flight with his brother Ajay but is believed to be the only survivor on the plane involved in the disaster in Ahmedabad on Thursday.

Speaking outside the family home in Leicester on Friday morning, Hiren Kantilal, who is a close cousin of the brothers, said: “We want to get out as soon as possible and we can meet our cousin brother Vishwash Kumar Ramesh. We just want some help with flight tickets and everything.

“So we can get out of the country and meet our cousin brother. We are trying to get 14 to 13 people, relatives and family members and everyone We have not got any support from India or the UK Government at all. We’re just heartbroken that this thing happened to us and they’re not providing anything, any flight tickets or anything.”

The 19-year-old added: “We spoke to Vishwash this morning. He was on video call today morning. He has minor injuries on his face and everything, he can walk and spoke properly to us. His condition looks very good from yesterday.

“He said: ‘The hospital and caring has been very good to me and they are caring well.’ He can’t believe that he lost his brother. He’s in like proper depression, everything.”

Mr Kantilal said he is close with the brothers and described them both as “grateful people”. He said: “We are all heartbroken. We can’t describe in words we are totally heartbroken for Ajay Kumar Ramesh, that we lost him.

“They’re so grateful, both of them are grateful people. Helpful people to us every time when we need help. I would send them my love. They went on holiday for a few months, enjoying some weather and everything, to India.

“We were going to pick (up) both of the brothers … from Gatwick Airport. Suddenly we got a call from Vishwash and it was heartbroken for all our family.”
