A man has revealed how he copes with speedy cashiers at Aldi and the trick has been dubbed a real game-changer by fans – but checkout staff have pointed out a big issue
We’re all familiar with the sheer panic of trying to bag our groceries as fast as the Aldi cashier is scanning them – and now one shopper has shared “genius” way to slow them down.
The lightening speed scanning forces customers to bag up their items as quick as they can, and the budget supermarket revealed this helps to keep prices low.
However it can be tricky, especially when there is a long queue waiting and your items are all piling up as you’re trying to bag them all. Now one shopper, who no longer gets frazzled at the tills revealed his technique online – and it’s seriously impressive.
The TikToker named Ciaran explained: “Top tip: spread all your shopping out and it gives you time to bag it so they don’t throw it at you.”
He explained that while putting his shopping on the belt, he spreads it out, which means the staff can’t scan everything so quickly. Ciaran captioned the video “Life Hack” back in 2021, garnering more than 90,000 views since being shared on the platform.
Lots of viewers loved the idea, as one customer commented: “Need to do that, Aldi cashiers are way too fast.” Another added: “Very good, I’ll use this next time.” A third commented: “This is the best life hack I’ve ever seen” while another replied: “Genius.”
But some shoppers admitted they like the speed, and one supermarket worker said it wouldn’t slow them down. She commented: “Hahhaa people think this works, we’ll just scan faster.”
Another asked: “Where’s the fun in that? I like to pack as fast as they scan, it’s a game.”
But one shopper said she simply asks the cashiers to slow down. She commented: “Just ask them to slow down.” Meanwhile, others were worried it would result in a hike in price eventually.
One viewer warned: “It’s cheap because they scan quickly and have less people working. Use the packing bench. Shop elsewhere if you don’t like it.”
Another added: “It’s all well and good until the cashier gets a disciplinary because their scanning efficiency is below company standards.”
