A product recall has been issued for a barbeque favourite with customers being urged to return it for a full refund as “unsafe to eat” due to an labelling error
Aldi has issued an urgent recall of a barbeque classic after it was found it could be “unsafe to eat.”
Customers who have bough Ashfields Grill 4 Garlic & Herb Chicken Kebabs have been urged to return them to the supermarket. A labelling error shows an incorrect use-by date, making them unsafe to eat.
The 320g pack has a use-by date of July 9 2024. The product was incorrectly labelled and will be unsafe to eat after the correct date of June 9, 2024.
Aldi has since recalled the kebabs and point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling the product.
Aldi said in a product recall notice: “As a precautionary measure, our supplier is recalling Ashfields Grill 4 Garlic & Herb Chicken 320g because a small number of products have had the incorrect use by date applied of 9th July. No other products are affected.”
The supermarket later added: “We apologise that this product did not meet our normal high standards and thank you for your co-operation.”
“These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product,” a food alert said on the Food Standards Agency website. “These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.”
People who have bought the product have been urged not to eat it. Instead return it to the store where it was bought for a full refund. For more information, visit help.aldi.co.uk or phone 0800 042 0800.
