With sizzling temperatures on the way, it’s time to beat the heat this summer.
Yes, we moan relentlessly about how cold and rainy the UK is – but the truth is we’re not prepared for the sun. Very few of us have an air con unit, work won’t let us have a siesta if it gets a little stuffy, and our houses are designed to trap heat in – not let it out.
So, as the Met Office predicts part of the UK could reach a scorching 30C by the end of the month – it’s no surprise shoppers are flocking to the supermarket to grab a small but mighty cooler.
Posting on the Aldi UK Shoppers Facebook page, which has more than 290,000 members, one user named John posted a picture of the Ambiano Portable Air Cooler. “Game-changer, on sale tomorrow. Got mine tonight,” he captioned he post.
The acclaimed product, which is significantly cheaper than installing a vented air conditioning unit, works by filling the tank with water which is then cooled and dispersed into the room via a fan to decrease the temperature. It can only work effectively in dry heat, which is great for those uncomfortably warm summer nights.

While some users were sceptical such an appliance wouldn’t be needed with the grey weather we’re currently experiencing – with one person joking they will wait until ‘global warming happens’ – others tagged their friends to share awareness of the product. “Oh my god I so need this,” raved one user.
