An American woman in England decided to try a popular British condiment for the first time, and she was mortified at the results as she was ‘left sobbing’ over the experience

English mustard, to most Brits, is just something you’d whack on a hot dog sausage, a pork pie, or a ham sandwich to give it a bit of extra flavour. However, to Americans, it appears it has much more of a kick, as one woman from the US was left sobbing after she tried it for the first time. TikTok user @american.in.the.uk said she’d received a lot of comments on her other videos, begging her to try English mustard, so she knew she couldn’t get away with it for much longer.

She said that she was just going to use what she had in her fridge and cupboards already, saying that she just had pepperoni, blue cheese, and a croissant. She also said she wanted to try clotted cream.

People were left mortified, however, when she decided to put clotted cream on a croissant and then added mustard to that.

“I don’t know how much to add; they said a layer,” she shared, and many Brits were likely screaming at their phone, saying she shouldn’t have added any mustard to a clotted cream croissant.

The woman added a hefty layer of mustard on top of the croissant, showing it to the camera, asking whether it was enough, and then deciding to add “a little bit more”.

If it was Nutella, perhaps viewers would’ve understood the sentiment, but mustard? Not so much.

She then decided to “add a little more” again. This was the third layer she’d added, and most Brits were likely dreading her trying it on her behalf.

As if things couldn’t get worse, she added the “salami” onto the bizarre sandwich, and then proceeded to try it.

Suffice to say, it didn’t go down a storm.

“Oh c***, holy s********. Argh! Oh my gosh, my nose is running. Arghhhh,” was her reaction.

She continued: “It’s not good. It’s not good! Ugh. My eyes are running. I’m crying. I think I added too much. I’m just gonna try it by itself.

“It tastes like Wasabi. It tastes like Wasabi! I can see why you like it. Okay, that’s it for now,” and she ended the video after crying at the end because she found the mustard so spicy.

In the comments, people were concerned about the amount of mustard she’d actually put on the croissant.

“Too much mustard. It’s not like American mustard. It actually contains mustard,” one man explained to her.

“What was that about bland British food again? I live for Americans trying proper English mustard,” somebody joked.

While another woman wrote: “My mouth fell open when I saw how much mustard you put on there. As for the clotted cream… who in their right mind told you that it belongs with mustard?”
