The newest iPhone 17 is minutes away from being unveiled. Apple is set to reveal its newest model at its ‘Awe Dropping’ event, which starts at 6pm UK time and is live from Cupertino, California. However, anyone waiting to upgrade can find a huge saving on a different model.

Sky has cut the price of the iPhone 16 Plus to only £25 a month with no upfront cost, as the iPhone 17 has been announced. The device is part of a 36-month contract, meaning shoppers will pay £900 over the contract period.
That doesn’t include the data plan, so shoppers will have to add that onto the monthly price. The good news is that Sky is offering a 50GB plan for £12 a month – perfect for all the social media scrolling users could ever need.
The iPhone 16 Plus is the slightly larger 6.7-inch screen version of the iPhone 16. It comes with the A18 chip as well as a big battery life boost with up to 27 hours of video playback, thanks to its slightly larger battery.

Sky has cut the monthly cost of the iPhone 16 Plus to only £25 a month as the iPhone 17 launches.
It also comes with a 48MP Fusion camera, 2x Telephoto and 12MP Ultra Wide camera which is perfect for those that need to take snaps everywhere they go.
And for those looking for some alternatives, there’s plenty to choose from. There’s the newest Google Pixel 10 phones that can be snapped up. Mobiles.co.uk is selling the Pixel 10 Pro with a bundle of freebies for £41.99 a month.
There’s also the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra on Three, which starts at £30 a month with a £50 upfront cost for those who want to stick to Team Samsung and Android.
When it comes to reviews, there’s glowing feedback on the iPhone 16 Plus from buyers and reviewers. One reviewer said: “I upgraded from the XR to the 16 plus, and it was a great choice for me.
“I appreciate the bigger screen. It’s not too much of a handful; I can still use it one-handed, and the weight is very comfortable. Unlike the 16 Pro Max, which I found too big and heavy for long use, having a comfortable phone outweighs the extras the Pro Max offers. The camera is great, and I like the clean-up photo options. The zoom is enough for my uses, and the camera button on the side is handy for quick shots.”
Another upgrader added: “I decided to upgrade from the iPhone 11 and am so pleased I did it’s really responsive, fabulous camera and feels lovely to use.”
However, some users did note the lack of a 120Hz refresh rate display compared to the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max. They added: “Despite the obvious lack of 120Hz, this phone is still lightning quick, and many won’t notice the lack of refresh rate unless side by side. Pictures come out clean, clear, crisp and very bright with excellent night mode vision. Video is also very stable and looks great.”
