Argos has issued a safety alert to customers, urging them not to climb onto their robot vacuum cleaners following a surge in social media stunts inspired by Taylor Swift’s latest show.
The warning comes after loads of Swifties shared videos on TikTok showing people, pets, and even cardboard cut-outs of the star riding on the robots.

The craze was sparked by a segment in Taylor’s show from The Tortured Poets Department era, where she appears to ride a massive Roomba on stage.
This has led to a TikTok trend with fans posting clips like “Cat on automatic vacuum cleaner (Taylor’s Version)”, syncing a cat’s ride to the tune of Down Bad.
Another fan shared their version of the performance using a cardboard replica of Taylor Swift, captioning it “Had to hop on this trend” alongside the track “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?” reports Wales Online.
Lisa Hollidge, Business Unit Director of Seasonal, Toys and Electricals at Argos, commented on the phenomenon: “While we understand that fans are keen to emulate the star’s every move, we’ve taken this step to protect customers and to ensure that they aren’t damaging their appliances by recreating this element of Taylor’s performance.”
“Robot vacuums have huge benefits to homeowners but enabling customers to imagine themselves as an international pop star is sadly not one of them. We hope that people will heed the warning we have had to share in response to the social media trend – one we expect will only grow once Taylor hits UK shores in June.”
