Argos is currently selling connected TVs that offer live and on-demand content using a broadband connection.

If you love the sound of Sky Glass but aren’t sure you want to sign up for a long-term contract then there is another new option. Freely launched back in May and offers full access to a swathe of channels without the need for an aerial stuck to the chimney.

Just like Sky Glass, everything you need to stream comes built into the telly so there’s no need for fussy installation or additional set-top boxes clogging up your living room. When it arrived earlier this year, it was only available via Hisense screens but that’s slowly changing with more manufacturers now onboard.

One TV maker that includes Freely is Bush and Argos is currently offering these screens with money off thanks to limited-time discount code. All you have to do is pop one in your online shopping basket and then apply the words BUSH10 at the checkout to get 10% off.

This reduction means you can take delivery of the 55-inch model for just £270 (was £299.99) or grab a massive 65-inch screen for £342 – was £379.99.

As a quick reminder, Freely offers live and on-demand content along with a full TV guide, Mini Guide, recommendations of things to watch and even the ability to pause live TV.

The Freely platform is only available on certain TVs so you can’t download and install it on set-top boxes or older screens.

There are no fees to pay to tune in so once you’ve purchased the new television you won’t be forced to spend any extra.

These Freely TVs are clearly a lot cheaper than signing up for a long-term contract but Sky Glass does have some pretty mighty advantages.

Firstly, there are way more channels to stream on Glass than Freely including services such as Sports, Cinema and entertainment.

To help make it easier finding things to watch, you get personalised recommendations for each member of the family. There’s also full integration with other services such as Netflix and Disney+ and you can save things to view later via the clever Playlists function.

Other extras on Sky Glass include useful voice search, an integrated soundbar which belts out audio and a remote control with backlit keys.

Sky Glass starts from £14 per month with Sky currently offering three months of premium channels plus Netflix for free.
