It’s time to think about booking a flu jab before winter arrives

Asda is launching a 60p flu jab service for its customers, as recent research reveals the city most affected by the flu. The well-known UK supermarket giant is offering this service to the first 6,000 customers who book their appointment between 22 and 28 September, with the price returning to £14.97 after these slots have all been used.

This comes as a new survey by Asda shows that most British men believe “man flu” is real, with many stating they feel worse than their partners when ill. On average, men take more sick days than women – five a year compared to four – and often cancel plans due to feeling unwell.

Social activities like nights out, gym sessions, family meals, and football are among the first to be cancelled when man flu strikes. According to the supermarket, London reports the highest number of flu cases in the country.

The supermarket has also partnered with grassroots football club Barking FC in London to encourage communities to “get back in the game,” reports the Express.

The spokesperson added: “This research shows just how much flu impacts everyday life – from missed nights out to time off the pitch and time off work. Our 60p flu jab service is about removing barriers and making it easier than ever for people to protect themselves and those around them.”

The spokesperson continued: “Asda has stood for great value over the last 60 years, and this is another way we’re helping families look after their health without the high price tag.”

The research revealed that numerous men continue to ignore their health needs. Whilst 70 per cent claim they attempt to battle through illness, 71 per cent confess they take their wellbeing for granted, and more than half dodge getting an annual flu vaccination.

How can I book an appointment?

Flu vaccination services are offered at more than 242 Asda Pharmacies across the country, with appointments bookable online or directly at participating branches. Find out more on the Asda Pharmacy website.
