This cleaning hack will banish nasty smells and leave your toilet fresher than you imagined possible.

There are various reasons why certain odours might linger in your bathroom, even after you have done your regular clean, but it can be seriously frustrating to have to endure nasty and unwelcome smells that just don’t seem to shift no matter how often you try and tackle them. This cleaning hack, however, promises to banish unwanted foul odours from your toilet for good, and it is seriously easy – even novice cleaners will be able to make this one work.

Our bathrooms get a lot of work, and there are so many products on the market that you might not know where to start when your trusty bleach isn’t cutting it and getting rid of unwelcome scents like urine. This hack uses a common household item – that will set you back a mere 99p – and cleaning enthusiasts absolutely swear by it.

As reported in The Express, fans of cleaning influencer Mrs Hinch – Sophie Hinchcliffe – shared the game-changing approach in a Facebook group dedicated to the best cleaning tips. One user begged for help in how to get rid of the smell of urine from linoleum in a toilet on the smaller side – and of nearly 70 responses, 63 recommended this hack using an expected household item: shaving foam.

“Cheap shaving foam, not the gel that turns to foam. Spray it all around and leave for 20 to 30 minutes, then wipe away,” wrote one user. Another agreed, but recommended you leave the foam in place for a longer chunk of time: “Shaving foam, spray on, smear over and leave on for a couple of hours before washing off,” they explained.

Another said that in their experience, shaving foam was absolutely the only thing that had worked out when they were faced with stubborn urine smells that they simply couldn’t shift any other way: “Cheap men’s shaving foam. I moved into a caravan and lots of men originally lived there. I tried everything. Shaving foam was the only thing that worked to remove the smell and it didn’t come back.”

You can grab a bottle of shaving foam from your local Boots or Poundland fro just £1.00 and at Tesco it will set you back just a little bit more at £1.50. Or, if you want the ease of having it delivered straight to your door, you can buy shaving foam on Amazon for around £2.70.
