It really is starting to feel like winter is on it’s way out in London, as the sun starts to make an appearance more and more. And over the next couple of days, it’s even looking like the city will see an early day of summer, as sunshine is forecast for two days in a row – with no hint of rain.
BBC Weather have forecast two days of sunshine, with temperatures reaching 20C. And unlike last weekend, it’s not due to be too windy either, so everyone can enjoy the sunshine without worrying about your picnic being blown away.
The sunshine is due to begin at 7am on Friday, April 12, with sunny intervals and a temperature of 12C, soon rising to 15C at 10am, then 19C at 1pm. The wind is predicted to be “moderate”, and best of all there is no chance of rain at all.

The temperature will peak at 20C at 3pm before dropping to 18C at 6pm and 16C at 8pm. The BBC says: “Tomorrow will start cloudy. It should be generally dry but the odd light shower cannot be ruled out.
“It will become dry and largely sunny in the afternoon. Breezy and very mild.” And thankfully, the sun will return again on Saturday, following a similar pattern to Friday.
Saturday will also start with sunny intervals and around 13C temperatures, before rising to 19C at 1pm and full sun. Similar temperatures will be felt throughout the day, so it’s a great opportunity to dust off the barbecue or enjoy one of London’s many pub gardens.
The BBC say: “Saturday will start cloudy but will become increasingly bright during the day. Largely dry, mild and breezy.”
But sadly, this early glimpse of summer is not due to last. The rain is forecast to return on Sunday, April 14, after a sunny start.
Temperatures are also much lower, sitting at around 12C-14C, with rain predicated from around 5pm. Don’t despair, because it’s looking like next week will also be largely sunny, with temperatures averaging 14C but rising towards next weekend.
The Met Office largely agrees with the BBC weather forecasters, though is perhaps a bit less optimistic about the amount of sun Londoners will see. The temperatures will reach 19C on Friday, the Met Office says, and 18C on Saturday.
But both days are forecast to remain cloudy, with only a couple of hours of sunny intervals each day.
And on April 20, London is due to be graced with yet more sun. It’s forecast to be wall-to-wall sunshine all day, with highs of 17C and barely any wind. Maybe summer is starting to approach after all.
