According to The Met Office, the United Kingdom has seen four heatwaves this summer, setting a record for the hottest summer in UK history.

The effects of this heatwave has been experienced in London, with temperatures as high as 33C.

Since last week, however, low pressures have made their way into the city and temperatures began to drop. Unfortunately, we start off the new month with some pretty grim weather as BBC Weather forecasts the days ahead with highs of 20°C and lows of 11°C, accompanied by the potential of rain and thunder.

Wednesday (September 3) presents a stark difference to the warm scenes of last week as BBC Weather predicts “gusty weathers and thundery showers.” With the chances of heavy rain and gloomy weather, humidity levels are shown to be quite high for the week, ranging from 71% to 85% at midday.

By Friday (September 5), however, the weather seems to return to the bright and breezy climes we’ve enjoyed this summer.

BBC Weather states that Friday will bring about comfortable and more settled temperatures of 19°C for most of the day. This sets off the tone for the weekend as Saturday follows suit.

The following week will see rain only on Tuesday (August 9). From Wednesday (September 10) to Sunday (September 14), it’s set to be consistently sunny, with temperatures hovering about a respectable 19C/20C.

For now, though, we’ll have to put up with grey skies and the possibility of thundery showers.

Wednesday looks to be the worst hit, with the day starting out a bit grim and drizzly and getting worse from there.

This is mostly down to 40mph winds coming from the south west, bringing with them the rain.
