Bexley crash: Man, 70, dead and woman, 67, fighting for her life after horror fence smash

A man has been killed and a woman left fighting for her life after a horror crash in South London. A car collided with a fence at the junction of Hurst Road and Glenhurst Avenue in Bexley at around 11pm on June 21, killing a 70-year-old man, and causing life-changing injuries to a 67-year-old woman, who was rushed to hospital with by London’s Air Ambulance.

The driver, a 26-year-old man, was arrested for causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He is currently in custody being questioned by detectives.

Detective Sergeant Rob Harris, from the Met Poilce’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “As our enquiries continue, we are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area at the time. Did you witness the collision? If you think you might have caught any dash cam or mobile phone footage of the incident, or the time leading up to it, please contact the police as soon as possible.”

A Met Police spokesperson added: “The Met is appealing for witnesses after a man was killed and a woman was seriously injured in a collision in Bexley. At approximately 11pm on Saturday, June 21, a car collided with a fence at the junction of Hurst Road with Glenhurst Avenue.

“A 70-year-old man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene by the London Ambulance Service. His next of kin have been informed. A 67-year-old woman, who was taken to hospital by London’s Air Ambulance, suffered life-changing injuries and remains in a critical condition.
