A new three-part documentary has been released that covers the murder of two sisters in a London park and the horrid misconduct of the Metropolitan Police that followed.
The series, Bibaa and Nicole: Murder in the Park, is available on Sky Documentaries from today (Sunday, May 11). The documentary can also be streamed on NOW using an Entertainment membership pass.
The show covers the murders of sisters Bibaa Henry, 46, and Nicole Smallman, 27, and the conduct of the police regarding the case. The pair were killed at birthday celebrations in a Wembley park with a group of friends in June 2020. The attendees were adhering to social distancing guidelines as a result of the Covid pandemic.
The sisters stayed dancing in the park after their friends left later on in the night. They were reported missing after not returning home the next day, with a search being carried out by friends and family.
The bodies of the sisters were found by Nicole’s partner 36 hours later. Adding to the grief and horror felt by their families, photos of the bodies of the women taken by police officers at the crime scene were shared on WhatsApp.
PC Deniz Jaffer, 48, and PC Jamie Lewis, 33, were charged with misconduct and six more were investigated for failing to challenge or report the photos.
Lewis was dismissed from the police, while Jaffer had already resigned. They were later sentenced to two years and nine months in jail.
DNA retrieved at the scene and a murder weapon being secured led to 19-year-old Danyal Hussein being taken into custody as a suspect. He was later convicted of two counts of murder and possession of a knife with intent and given a life sentence and informed that he would not be eligible for parole until he is in his 50
The new series includes interviews with the sisters’ mother, Mina Smallman, and members of the family and friends who searched for the sisters when they went missing. Officers involved in the investigation also share their accounts of the events.
Bibaa & Nicole: Murder in the Park is streaming on Sky Documentaries and NOW.
