Blockbuster Sky TV update offers you free Sky Sports channels and that’s not all

Sky has confirmed the launch of six new channels which can all be viewed for free.

There’s good news if want more things to watch on your TV. Sky has just confirmed a major shake-up that includes 6 all-new channels that are totally free to tune into. Yes, you can pop them on the big screen and not face any charges on your monthly bill.

The changes even include access to a trio of sporting platforms with UK homes now able to view Sky Sports Classics, Sky Sports Stories and Sky Sports Vault without paying a penny extra. These feature documentaries, action from Sky’s archives plus recaps from events such as darts, EFL and boxing.

At launch, this update is only available for those with a Sky Glass telly or the latest Stream box but it’s been confirmed Sky Q users can expect to see the changes later this year.

So how do you gain access to this boost?

Sky says that all of the FAST (Free Ad-supported Streaming Television) channels can be loaded on TVs via the new Xumo Play app. This can be found in apps rail, or by simply using voice search – just say “Xumo Play” into your remote and you should see the application appear on the screen.

Here are all the new channels and what’s available to watch.

Pick Paranormal: not for the faint of heart, Pick Paranormal features Most Haunted, the fan favourite TV show investigating all things supernatural.

Emergency 24/7: with Highway Cops, Air Ambulance ER and Stop Search Seize, plus many more shows, Emergency 24/7 is packed full of drama.

Sky Artist of The Year: the channel for art aficionados, viewers can catch up on Sky’s Portrait Artist of the Year and Landscape Artist of the Year.

Sky Sports Stories: whatever their sport, Sky Sports Stories has a documentary for every fan – from EFL Rivalries to Her Huddle.

Sky Sports Classics: viewers can delve into the Sky Sports archives with the likes of Premier League Icons and Premier League Legends.

Sky Sports Vault: the channel revisits a whole host of archive darts, EFL and boxing content including 30 Years of The PDC World Darts Championship and Fight Night.

Along with those services, Xumo – which is a joint venture between Comcast and Charter – also includes over 70 other channels as part of the app. It’s totally free to download and you don’t need to create an account to join.
