A popular alcopop which was frequently enjoyed by clubbers during the 1990s disappeared for two decades, but has recently been spotted on shelves for 80p a bottle

Shoppers say they have gone back in time and “feel 18 again” after discovering one of their favourite retro drinks is now back on the shelves.

Anyone who enjoyed the nightclub scene during the ’90s is likely to be very familiar with the alcopop Reef. The fruity vodka drink was a staple in nightclubs and bars – and was renowned for being cheap. Reef was a clubbing favourite alongside Bacardi Breezers, Two Dogs, Smirnoff Ice, WKD and Hooch.

However, when the millennium came around, the popular orange and passionfruit beverage sadly saw a decline in popularity. But, recently the 3.4 per cent tipple has been spotted in shops recently and people are delighted about it after two decades away.

Shoppers are racing to B&M to pick up a Reef drink for just 80p. A case of 10 is on sale for £8. What’s more, 24-packs (priced at £21.50) are available to order online via GoodTimeIn.

One woman revealed that she had spotted the throwback drink in a B&M store in Market Harborough, Leicestershire. “Apparently all B&Ms are selling them, happy me I feel 18 again,” she said.

Another took to Facebook and wrote: “They’re back. Seen in B&M today.” “Oh my god, flashback to the ’90s,” said one other.

“My favourite drink,” commented another. “Promptly heading to B&M,” added another fan of Reef. One other said: “£8 for ten get me to B&M – I’ve paid £1.50 for one.”

“Two of the best happy memories – vodka Reef and Smirnoff Ice,” another nostalgic individual said. One other reminisced and said: “I remember in Magaluf I was so hungover but the Reefs were the only thing I could drink to get me feeling normal again.”

Reef brand manager Jacob Barrett told Metro.co.uk: “We’re very much experiencing a return to the ’90s as a culture, from bucket hats to S Club 7, and Reef feels like the perfect taste to transport people back. You might have rent to pay, a job to go to, and children to look after, but you also have the memories of a life before all that.

“We want to help people relive that period and remember those days with a simple sip. Times may have changed, but Reef hasn’t.”
