Shoppers can’t wait to get their hands on the new gift set, but others said it makes them ‘feel old’
B&M fans say they “feel ancient” after young shoppers were left confused by a new gift set being offered by the retailer. The discount chain is stocking a £20 point and shoot digital camera, available in black or pink.
While there was a positive reaction when TikTok user @_emilydooganx showcased the camera, some shoppers said they didn’t know how it worked. In her post, Emily wrote: “Run don’t walk to B&M. Digital camera for £20!” One fan replied: “Ok this is my sign.”
A second wrote: “Needed.” A third said: “I need that now,” and a fourth fan commented: “Omg tomorrow during lunch let’s go to B&M!!” But someone else asked: “How do you get the photos?”
Another comment said: “I’m glad to finally find someone who’s got one, how do you then get the photos off of it?” A keen shopper wrote: “How do you link to your phone?” while someone questioned: “Do they print out or do you get them in your phone?”
Other commenters then said they felt old seeing the response to the video. A viewer thought: “The fact people don’t know how to get the photos off these is concerning.” A similar reply read: “Ahh, we’ve finally hit the point where people don’t know how to take photos off of a digital camera.”
A social media user added: “Awww bless the gen alphas here. Guys it’s called an SD card like a USB stick and you take it out the camera and stick it onto your laptop or a phone extension and that’s how you get the pics.”
Someone else shared: “I feel old I used to carry one of these round when I was a teenager and me and my friends used to take pictures.”
A camera lover commented: “Not me still having my fujifilm camera I used to take on nights out in 2008.” A fan echoed: “I still have my fujifilm from 2009, glad I never threw it away.”
A different viewer claimed: “It’s crazy technology from my childhood is being marketed as nostalgic crap – Just buy an old digital camera off eBay… These won’t be the same.”
Yet another comment said: “I don’t know how to feel about my childhood being marketed as some nostalgic trend.” A viewer added: “Now I feel ancient digging out my old digital camera from storage from when I was a teenager in the early 2010s.”
Other cameras listed on B&M’s website include the £29 Cylo Instant Print Camera and the £25 Vibes Instant Print Camera. The product description for the Vibes Instant Print Camera said: “This digital instant print camera utilises innovative inkless thermal printing technology, enabling you to effortlessly capture and instantly print moments in striking black and white.
“A great way to mark those special moments with family and friends, instantly!” Shoppers can find their nearest store here.
