A teenager has been arrested after a man was ‘stabbed’ at Mile End Tube station in the middle of the afternoon. Now British Transport Police (BTP) detectives are appealing for witnesses to what they’ve described as a “serious assault”.

Officers were called to the Underground station on the Central, District and Hammersmith & City lines at 2.27pm on Thursday (June 13) to reports of a man with a knife. Armed officers attended alongside London Ambulance Service (LAS) paramedics and a man was taken to hospital with what BTP have called “injuries consistent with being stabbed”.

A BTP spokesperson said: “These injuries are believed to be life-changing. He has also been arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article in a public place and affray.”
