Vaccum-loving child has hoover-themed birthday party

A ‘terrified’ boy conquered his phobia of his gran’s robot vacuum cleaner by watching videos of the appliances – but ended up so obsessed that he had a vacuum-themed birthday party. Jacob Tosetti became obsessed with vacuums after he slept over at his grandparent’s house and discovered their robot cleaner.

After being initially scared of the self-moving cleaner, mum Brianna Tosetti says he soon took to it and began to watch ‘demonstration videos’ to learn more about them. And when she asked him what theme he wanted for his fourth birthday party, Brianna said her son’s eyes ‘lit up’ when she suggested a vacuum-themed one.

Heartwarming footage shows Jacob ripping open his presents to discover toy vacuums and cleaning brushes gifted to him by his family on Sunday. The four-year-old is even seen using the suction of a real vacuum cleaner to blow out his birthday cake candles. Brianna said she struggled to find vacuum-themed decorations online so had to become inventive and print off vacuum manuals, sticking these around the room and even using her own vacuum as a decoration.

The 31–year–old said her friend, who owns Sweet Suls Bakery, created vacuum cookies for the party and Brianna even had a birthday cake with a robot vacuum on the front made for Jacob. Brianna, from Gorham in Maine, US, said: “A few months ago Jacob went for a sleepover at my in-laws house and they have a robot vacuum and he was ironically terrified of it at first.

“But then he became obsessed with it [and hoovers]. He would wake up in the morning and start watching vacuum demonstration videos and start to point and name different vacuums when we were out. I then asked him what theme he wanted for his birthday and his face lit up when I suggested a vacuum-themed birthday party.

“At first, I didn’t know how I was going to pull it off as I had searched online for decorations but couldn’t find any so I made my own. My friend made vacuum cookies for us and I then put a call into a cake shop for the cake. The baker laughed and loved it when I asked him to make a cake with a robot vacuum on it but he did it.

“He loved the cake and we used a vacuum cleaner to blow the candles out on the cake with. We left the broom and vacuum out in the house because it fit the theme of the party. I got him the mop and vacuum robot and he is obsessed and played with it all day. He got a broom cleaning set and a Henry hoover and a handheld hoover too.

“He loves all his hoovers and he took his handheld one out with him this morning when we went out. Now I’m hoping he’ll help me around the house and help out with chores. A birthday party is for the kids so let them have what they want to have. As long as they are happy that’s all that matters. I’d love to get a following for our vacuum lover.”

After hosting her son’s vacuum party, Brianna shared a TikTok of the celebrations which has since gone viral and users were quick to comment on Jacob’s love for hoovers. One user said: “I’m crying. This is so random and needs to go viral.” Another added: “Vacuuming the candles has me laughing.” A third commented: “I love this. I’m surprised no one made him an array of messes to clean up. Although he might just enjoy vacuums, not just the cleaning aspect.”
