Lots of people decide to put on fake tan before a wedding to give the appearance of sun-kissed skin but one bride has come under fire for putting pressure on her husband-to-be because she doesn’t want him to look pale
A couple’s wedding day is supposed to be one of the most important days of their lives, so it’s no surprise that some people get a little carried away with trying to ensure everything looks perfect.
While some brides and grooms decide to get healthier by embarking on diets and getting fit, others grow their hair out or invest in expensive treatments to give them gorgeous skin. Right or wrong, if you want to change something about your appearance it’s up to you and no one else gets to have a say – regardless of how they think the photos might look.
One bride has come under fire and even been accused of being ‘racist’ after she took to social media to moan about her ‘pale’ fiancé. Writing on a wedding forum, she stated: “I’ve asked my fiancé to have a plan for tanning a bit before the wedding.
“Of course he hasn’t made much of an effort so he is much paler than me. I’m also a runner, I tan easily, so I’ve really been trying to stay out of the sun. However. I am getting a light spray tan for the wedding day to even out my tan lines! Is it weird for men to get spray tans? I’ve seen some couples get married where the bride is so much darker than the groom and I’m afraid to look too dark next to him in our photos.”
Underneath the original post people were harsh with their responses. One person replied: “Why are you telling him that he needs to tan? Worry about your own skin.” To which the bride replied: “I’ll worry about my expensive wedding photos thank you.” However, someone else responded: “Worry about that expensive divorce that will be coming if you are gonna be dictating your husband’s every move like that.”

Shared to Facebook page, ‘That’s it, I’m wedding shaming!’, readers were left in hysterics over the bride’s statement. One person wrote underneath the screenshots: “Damn that comment really went for the throat, no s**** given. I love that.” But another user added: “I mean, there’s nothing wrong with asking him to tan, it’s only a problem if you insist.”
And another person added: “What? Who cares if he looks too pale or whatever? It seems like some sort of thinly veiled racism where she doesn’t want to look interracial in photos when everyone will know they’re both white.”
