A brute who murdered a West London dad just 300m from his family home has died of cancer in prison at the age of 41. Sebastian was jailed for life with a minimum of 30 years in 2018 after murdering 36-year-old Sukhjit Singh Dhariwal in Hounslow with the help of his housemate Dariusz Badek, who got a minimum of 25 years.
Szlaski succumbed to oesophageal cancer at HMP Long Lartin in May 2024, six years into his sentence. The Prisons and Probation Ombudsman found no issues with his care, writing: “The clinical care Mr Szlaski received at Long Lartin was of a good standard and was equivalent to that which he would have received in the community.”
Szlaski and Badek set upon Mr Dhariwal on three separate occasions in the early hours of Friday, December 22, 2017. Mr Dhariwal had been out with friends at The Royal Albion pub before moving on to Gio’s bar in Hounslow High Street. As he made his way home, he was attacked by two strangers seconds away from his home.
The attack began when Mr Dhariwal was punched to the ground, before the men ran off. When they returned 10 minutes later, they inflicted even more serious head injuries before fleeing again. The final time they came back with a knife and finished Mr Dhariwal off. Witness accounts led police to an address in Albion Road where the defendants lived together.
As they arrived at the address, the officers immediately noticed blood stains on the front door handle, as well as inside the premises. Both men were found virtually naked, hiding in the attic. Szlaski and Badek denied murder but were both found guilty following a trial at Kingston Crown Court.
