Buckingham Palace has confirmed that Andrew has now been officially struck off the official roll of peerages meaning he no longer holds any of his royal titles

Buckingham Palace has confirmed a key step has been taken in removing Andrew’s titles after being stripped of them all.

Andrew’s name no longer appears on the official roll of the peerage, marking a key step in formally removing his titles.

The move was confirmed by the Palace which said Andrew Mountbatten Windsor has been struck from the official roll of the peerage.

It comes just hours after it was revealed he has been forced out of Royal Lodge, with the King beginning the formal process to formally strip him of all of his titles.

The King will privately pay for his younger brother’s accommodation, but Andrew’s ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, who had also been living at Royal Lodge, will be forced to make her own arrangements for a house.

The move comes following intense pressure placed upon Andrew by the King and Prince William to leave the 30-room Windsor mansion after also facing scrutiny from MPs and public revulsion following his links to paedophile billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, and the allegations he sexually abused Virginia Giuffre.

Andrew has always denied the allegations against him, but given the anger after it also emerged he barely paid any rent on Royal Lodge for more than 20 years, his position became untenable.

It is understood that the action was taken against him because there have been serious lapses in Andrew’s judgment, although he continues to deny the accusations against him.

And although the King initiated the process of formally stripping the titles, it is believed that Andrew, who will move as soon as practically possible, did not object.

In a statement, Buckingham Palace said last night : “Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.

“His lease on Royal Lodge has, to date, provided him with legal protection to continue in residence.

“Formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease and he will move to alternative private accommodation.

“These censures are deemed necessary, notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him.

“Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse.”

In order for Andrew’s titles to be formally removed, the Duke of York peerage had to be removed from the Peerage Roll to ensure it cannot be used officially.

The King sent Royal Warrants to the Lord Chancellor to secure the removal of the Dukedom of York from the roll.

It means that an Act of Parliament will not be required to officially remove Andrew’s titles, which also included Earl of Inverness and Baron Killyleagh. His daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie will not be affected by any changes.
