A cabin crew member has highlighted the “secret button” in aeroplane armrests that is a game-changing convenience for those in the aisle seat.

The little-known – or often forgotten – button is located on the underside or side of the aisle armrest and makes it easier to move around onboard. Fly Arna – Armenia’s national airline and well-known low-cost carrier – shared a video on its TikTok account of one of its cabin crew members revealing little-known features on its aircrafts.

The video has been viewed over 100,000 times with many excited over the “secret button” reveal. Seated in an aisle seat of a Fly Arnra carrier, the cabin crew member in the video shows that there is a “secret button” in the armrest. Pressing the button allows passengers to lift the aisle seat armrest, making it easier for everyone in the row to exit the aisle.

The video also highlights a few other game-changing fixtures on Fly Arna aircrafts. Another being the availability of a bassinet for parents and guardians travelling with babies.

A bassinet is available onboard the plane and “can be requested for infants under the age of 1” according to the TikTok video. The video also shows the bassinet being attached to a section of the aeroplane across from a set of seats, for easy accessibility.

Another feature that shocked viewers was the dual-purpose of the headrest cover found on the back of each seat. As demonstrated in the video, the headrest cover can be used to help protect against smoke inhalation in the event of an emergency.

The cabin crew member in the video shows how passengers can remove, fold and then dampen the headrest cover. Then, they can breathe through the cover to reduce their smoke intake during an onboard emergency.

Another special feature highlighted in the video is the small black triangle sticker located on Fly Arna carriers. According to the video, the triangle indicates the optimal vantage point for the crew to inspect the wings.

The aisle seat button to raise the armrest is probably the hidden feature most relevant for passengers, and might have you re-considering your go-to seat. That said, another cabin crew member has also shared the best economy seat on an aeroplane.

A cabin crew member posted a photo on Reddit showing themselves snuggled up in a comfy blanket with plenty of legroom. They dubbed it the “best” seat one could snag.

Upon closer inspection, it’s clear that the seat is located next to the emergency exit door, providing extra space for the fortunate passenger who secures it. This is to ensure easy evacuation in case of an emergency.
