A “caring” mother was “brutally” killed by her son while his brother slept next door. Donald Yeboah, 29, of Wingate Square, Lambeth, was convicted of her manslaughter on Wednesday, August,13 at Croydon Crown Court.
His mother, Leticia Brobbey, 52, was found with serious injuries after police had to force their way into their flat in Clapham after being called to a disturbance on Wednesday, May 8. She was taken to hospital in a critical condition, before dying of her injuries a week later on May 14.
A post-mortem examination showed she had suffered multiple blunt force injuries to the head and neck, which caused a traumatic brain injury.
Detective Chief Inspector Samantha Townsend from Met’s Homicide and Serious Crime team in south London said: “This is a tragic incident and our thoughts remain with Leticia’s family and friends as they continue to process what has happened.
“Leticia was a caring mother who on that day had expressed concerns about her sons behaviour, that evening Donald brutally assaulted her, while his brother was sleeping in the room next door.
“Sadly, Leticia did not recover from the injuries she sustained in the attack and died a week later”.
Yeboah was arrested at the scene following the incident and taken for hospital treatment. He was charged with attempted murder on Friday, May 10, before being charged with murder on June 3, following his mother’s death. He will be sentenced at the same court at a later date.
