A horror crash closed off a busy area of Carshalton. The A232 High Street was closed in both directions from The Square to Park Lane from around 2am (Monday, October 13), reported traffic website Inrix.
The emergency services rushed to the road after receiving reports of a major smash. There they found a man who was raced to a major trauma centre with life-changing injuries.
Photos and videos shared on local Facebook groups showed two sections of the road cordoned off as Met Police officers stand guard. There have been no arrests.
The following four London buses were on diversion: 127, 157, 407, and SL7.
A Met Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at 2.42am on Monday, October 13, to reports of a collision between a pedestrian and a vehicle on Carshalton High Street, Sutton. Officers attended, along with the London Ambulance Service, and a man in his 30s was taken to hospital. His condition is believed to be life-changing at this stage. The road is now reopened and enquiries are ongoing. No arrests have been made.”
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 2.35am today (13 October) to reports of a road traffic collision on High Street, Carshalton. We sent an ambulance crew to the scene and treated a man before taking him to a major trauma centre.”
