Catford murder probe after man in his 20s stabbed to death

No arrests have been made so far with a large crime scene set up in the area

A murder investigation has been launched in Catford after a man in his 20s was stabbed to death. Police and paramedics were called to Rushey Green shortly after 3am today (Wednesday, October 15) where the young man was found in a critical condition.

The victim was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly afterwards. A crime scene is currently in place with forensic officers combing an area outside Poundland and Nando’s. No arrests have been made so far as police hunt for the attacker.

Anyone with information which could help the murder investigation has been asked to contact the Metropolitan Police. Lewisham commander Trevor Lawry said: “Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of this young man who have lost someone they love in such a tragic way.

“I know the community will have concerns following this incident, a dedicated homicide team is currently working to piece together this morning’s events. If you have any information for police, please do come forward.

“A crime scene will be in place for several hours as part of the investigation, and I thank local residents for their patience.”
