New data shows cheapest and most expensive places to fill up your car in London – and they’re both in the same borough. The cheapest place in Greater London to fill up your car with petrol is at a Tesco garage in Ealing, in Hounslow.
According to the latest data supplied by retailers, a driver in an average family car could save up to £19 by filling up at this forecourt, compared to the most expensive petrol station. The prices quoted are those supplied by retailers as of Thursday 21st August, 2025 at 4:45am.
The Tesco garage at Old Hoover Building, Western Ave, Ealing is charging motorists 123.9p per litre, which means it would cost £68 to fill up an average 55 litre tank. This is based on a feed of live petrol prices which was set up by the government’s Competition and Markets Authority last September. The average price for a litre of petrol across the Greater London region this week is 136.2p.
The most expensive filling station in Greater London is a BP station at Heston Service Area – J2/3 M4, Hounslow. The cost of standard petrol at this station is 158.9p, meaning it would cost a total of £87 to fill up an average family car at this forecourt.
For the owners of diesel cars, the cheapest place to fill up is the Tesco garage at Ealing. The cost of a litre of standard diesel at this forecourt was 124.9p, according to prices supplied by retailers.

Diesel car drivers in Greater London are paying 0.6p more than the national average. The cheapest place to buy petrol in the country is at a Tesco garage in Ealing where a litre of standard petrol is 123.9p. The most expensive petrol station in the country is a ASDA garage in Malvern Hills where motorists are charged 176.9p a litre.
The prices quoted are for standard grade petrol (E10) and for standard grade diesel (B7). The figures are supplied by the major retailers under a voluntary scheme launched by the Competition and Markets Authority to ensure motorists are given a fair deal at the petrol pumps. Most of the major petrol retailers have signed up to the scheme and the petrol stations supplying up-to-date information account for around 60 per cent of the fuel sold in the UK. The price of fuel is often cheaper at Costco outlets, but their service is only available to members.
