Christian Girl Autumn has been taking the Internet by storm once more as ‘Queen of Fall’ influencer makes a dramatic comeback. But what does the trend mean and where does it come from?
It’s not often one person can claim dominion over an entire season – but influencer Caitlin Covington, credited with the insanely popular ‘Christian Girl Autumn’, holds the indisputable royal title: ‘Queen of Fall’. Now, her dramatic comeback is going viral. But why?
The Internet was taken on a rollercoaster this week as the beloved influencer tearfully told TikTok viewers that she wouldn’t be making any autumn content this year. Wringing her hands together, she said: “It’s just a lot of pressure to make each video better than the last…I just really need a break this year and [voice cracking] I’m really sorry.”
Fans quickly fell into disarray, posting edits, distressed comments and even wondering what on earth was going to happen to autumn now that it was “cancelled”.

However, not long after fallout ensued, Caitlin confirmed that it had actually been a joke. “Just kidding,” she wrote in a TikTok as she stepped out in a brown polka dot dress while russet leaves twirled around her. “FALL IS HERE.” She added: “PS. Consider this the official fall launch.”
Viewers were quick to express their relief. “Girl we were all panicking,” one wrote. Another rejoiced: “CHRISTIAN GIRL AUTUMN IS HERE YUPPP”
But what exactly is Christian girl autumn – the trend that made Caitlin so well-known in the first place? The lifestyle blogger first went viral in 2019 alongside fellow blogger Emily Gemma for their autumn aesthetic, after she was posted as a meme with the tagline: ‘Christian Girl Autumn’.
The term was meant to encapsulate the comparatively ‘demure’ fashion of autumn as compared with summer, including turtlenecks, boots, scarves, long cardigans and muted brown and reddish tones. It also implied other behaviours: drinking pumpkin spice lattes, preferring minimal makeup, and having a cosy-but-basic vibe.

Fortunately, Caitlin seemed to see the humorous side of the label. She fully leaned into the meme, carving out her own niche in the otherwise-saturated world of viral trends – and becoming pretty much synonymous with the season.
Plus, many aspects of Caitlin’s autumn style are projected to be on trend this year, too – at least, according to the Pinterest 2025 Autumn Trend report. Brown, coffee-toned clothing, polka dots and “preppy chic” are all leading searches on the image-based app.
But, for Caitlyn, her love for autumn fashion has always gone deeper than just clothes. In an interview with Nylon in 2022, she said: “I’ve struggled with [anxiety] for many years, and fall is just all about comfort and finding comfort in really small things.”
