Clapham Common stabbing sees 5 arrested as air ambulance lands in park

Five people have been arrested after a man was stabbed in South London on Sunday evening, July 7. Police were called at around 6.30pm to reports a person had been attacked in the Clapham Common area.

The Air Ambulance was also dispatched to the scene, and when paramedics and officers arrived they found a 35-year-old man with stab injuries. His injuries were assessed as neither life-threatening nor life-changing.

The Metropolitan Police immediately launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Four men and one woman were arrested near the scene, in relation to the stabbing.

Officers are continuing their enquiries into the incident, and are establishing what happened on Sunday evening. They are now appealing for information from the public to help them in their investigation.

The full statement from the Metropolitan Police says: “Police were called at 6.35pm on Sunday, July 7, to a person stabbed in the area of Clapham Common, SW4. Officers attended the location along with ambulance colleagues, including London’s Air Ambulance.

“A 35-year-old man was taken to hospital suffering stab injuries. His condition has been assessed as not life-threatening or life-changing. An investigation has been launched. Five people – four males and one female – were arrested near to the scene in connection with the incident. Enquiries continue to establish the circumstances.
