Radiators can be tricky to clean, especially trying to remove dust and fluff from inside – but one cleaning fan has shared her hack and it’s with a common household item
Spring cleaning season is among us but there may be one spot you struggle to clean – your radiators – and a cleaning expert has just the trick to get rid of stubborn dust lurking in them.
Although we’re turning them off for the foreseeable (hopefully), it doesn’t mean we have to neglect them until the winter. Clearing the dust from our radiators is important to ensure they work properly as well as making sure our homes are clean and dust-free.
It’s easy for dirt to build up in the crevices of radiators and while they can be hard to get to, Hazel Mckinnie – one half of the Wee Scotty Cleaners duo has shared just how to get rid of the dust with one household device.
The cleaning gurus regularly share their cleaning tips and tricks online to their followers, and in a recent video mum Hazel shared how she easily cleans the dirt that lurks in her radiators. While they can be tricky to clean inside, Hazel’s trick works effectively, and chances are you already have the handy device at home.
She blasts the dust out of her radiator with her trusty hairdryer. The pro said: “Here’s a wee top tip for you for the day. How many of you have bought a gadget for cleaning down the back of your radiators? I bet you a few of you have bought them because I did.”
The 44-year-old then shared her discovery and chimed: “But I discovered that who’s not got a hairdryer in their house? Every woman has a hairdryer do they not? Or men.
“All you do is put your hairdryer on and blow down the back and it blows all the dust and fluff out and you hoober it up at the bottom. So yeah, wee free tip. It saves you from buying gadgets, and it’s actually effective. Quick and easy hack that actually works and it knocks out all of the fluff.”
People were quick to comment on the easy trick, as one TikToker wrote: “Oooh I’m off to do mine right now. Cheers,” and a second penned: “Need to try this.”
Others claimed the trick does work, as one cleaning fan wrote: “I’ve been doing this for years, amazing results,” while another said it also works well for dust on top of wardrobes.
