Dr Who star Jenna Coleman shocked fans as she revealed she was expecting her first baby after debuting her blossoming baby bump at an exhibition in Chatsworth House last week. The actress has already taken her maternity dressing very seriously, as she’s been spotted several times since then wearing some stunning midi dresses that show off her baby bump beautifully.
At her most recent outing, a Merit & Tove dinner party, Jenna donned a gorgeous dress from Tove itself, opting for the Raquel Dress, £995 here, in a pale green shade. The dress has long sleeves and a swishy, flowy satin skirt, and is cut along the bias which allows it to hug and accentuate Jenna’s pregnant frame.
Although not strictly a maternity dress, it did give us some major inspiration when it comes to pregnancy dressing, particularly for more formal occasions like weddings or graduations. So we decided to track down some of our favourite maternity midi dresses to shop that are chic enough for summer events without sacrificing on comfort.

It has a wrap-over style front which can be fastened with a tie belt, and has enough fabric to make sure you still stay comfortable even when entering your final weeks of pregnancy.
For a more simple, streamlined silhouette, H&M’s MAMA Plissé Dress, £32.99 here, manages to nail an effortlessly chic look whilst still being super lightweight and breezy – perfect for summer occasions. The column-style design and detachable tie belt allow it to fit to bumps of all sizes, whilst the relaxed fit means it’ll look just as good with some heeled sandals and a clutch as it will with trainers and a tote bag during the day.
If loose and flowy is more your thing, this Button-Down Polka Dot Maternity Dress, £75 here, from Seraphine is a gorgeous addition to your maternity wardrobe. Designed with a flattering curved empire waist and blouson sleeves for easy wearing, it also has a breastfeeding-friendly button down front that means it’ll become a staple even after you’ve given birth.
