A hungry customer was left with a sense of shock and disappointment after visiting his local sandwich shop only to find it had closed for half-an-hour ‘for sex’
There’s nothing worse than nipping to your favourite shop only for it to be closed or unavailable.
But worse than that, is seeing a sign that leaves your toes curling. Sure, we’ve all seen messages on shop windows saying they’ve had to close for a short time – perhaps to allow the shopkeeper to run an errand in town or take a break.
One shopper got more than they bargained for recently after spotting some bizarre signage on a visit to their local sandwich shop. After sharing a snap to Reddit of a handwritten note attached to the door, users of the Weird subreddit were split between feelings of disgust and humour.
For the sign in question read: “Closed for sex. Be back in 30 mins. Thank you.” Another eagle-eyed Redditor soon spotted a ‘Beware of Wet Floor’ sign on the shop floor, only adding to the nausea in the comments section.
“I seemed to have lost my appetite for a good ol’ fashion ballpark wiener,” the original poster declared.
“Back in 30 mins. That’s a bit optimistic. Must be a 10 minute drive home,” one person joked in response. Another quipped: “30 minutes! Right. More like 7 and then a quick nap.”
A third questioned: “Why would you write that… just why?” A fourth added: “Weird flex but I respect it.” While a fifth reference a Simpsons episode, paraphrasing Homer: “Hey! What’ll I tell the boss?! Tell him that I’m going to the backseat of my car with the women I love, and I won’t be back for 10 minutes!”
Other people couldn’t help but add further sexual puns to the post, with one adding: “Looks like the 30 mins are almost up. They are in the back grabbing the mop. Somebody wheezed the juice.” And a second added: “Well at least they posted 2 signs. No doubt what’s going down.”
