The iconic show remains one of Disney Channel’s most beloved shows from the ’00s, but even super fans have been left stunned after realising which hotel was used for filming
Disney fans have been left stunned after realising where one of their favourite childhood shows was filmed.
There was nothing quite like the days of coming home from school and turning on Disney Channel to see Zack and Cody running around The Tipton Hotel in The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. Any Suite Life super fans will remember London Tipton’s iconic PRINDL episode, or Mr Mosby’s hilarious dance routine.
The American sitcom, which showcased the life of a family living in a hotel, ran from 2005 until 2008 and was so popular that a sequel series The Suite Life on Deck aired from 2008 and ran for three years, before The Suite Life Movie premiered in 2011. And while fans of the comedy show may think they know the beloved show well, many cannot get over their realisation about where the series was really filmed.
Like many American sitcoms, the bulk of the show was filmed in Los Angeles and the Hollywood Center Studios, as well as around the boroughs of Manhattan and Hollywood, despite the show being set in Boston, Massachusetts.
Plus, the exterior shots of the fictional Tipton Hotel were filmed in Canada. At the start of the show, watchers would always see shots of a grand hotel with a distinctive green roof – this is The Fairmont Hotel in Vancouver.
Fans have gone wild after one woman, Andrea Parkerson, revealed she was stunned after recognising the hotel while in Vancouver. She shared a video clip on her TikTok page @andrea_parkerson, which showed the exterior of the Fairmont, and said: “Send this to all Suite Life of Zack and Cody fans because I flipped when I saw this.”
Hundreds flocked to the comments. One individual said: “Omg I live in Vancouver and never realised this! And I loved the show.”
Another added: “Driven past this so many times and never thought it looked familiar.” A third added: “Wait, how did I never realise this.” One other said: “As someone who lives an hour from Vancouver: I’m sorry WHAT.”
Someone pointed out: “I always forget that a lot of Disney/family channel shows were filmed in Canada. That’s insane.” “I’m sorry I stayed at the Tipton without knowing it?,” another shocked fan said.
