Detectives are now appealing for the public’s help

A CCTV appeal has been launched five months after a man was seriously assaulted in a McDonald’s on Oxford Street. The 45-year-old victim was attacked by another man at around 11.10pm on Thursday, May 19.

He was treated by paramedics and taken to hospital with a severe eye injury. The suspect made off from the fast food chain immediately following the incident and is yet to be identified.

While the motive remains unclear, the pair were involved in an argument prior to the violent turn. Detectives from the Metropolitan Police have now released an image of a man they wish to speak to in connection.

It shows a tall White man with a dark beard and moustache using a self-service machine inside McDonald’s. He appears to be bald, though the top of his head is hidden by a black baseball cap.

He is also wearing a grey top, grey shorts, black jacket and black trainers.

Detective Sergeant Eric Somerville, who is leading the investigation, said: “Do you recognise this man? Were you in the Oxford Street area on Thursday, 19 May?

“Do you know anything about this incident that may help our investigation? We have followed up several lines of enquiry already but need the help of the public to identify the suspect.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact 101, quoting 01/7552496/25. Anonymous reports can be made to Crimestoppers via 0800 555 111 or the charity’s website.
