Dog spots itself on Channel 5 show ‘A Yorkshire Vet’ and has brilliant reaction

Dog lovers have reacted in awe after cute footage of a canine watching himself on television was shared to social media. Owner Rick Beswick and his search dog, Ace appeared on Channel 5 show, A Yorkshire Vet on Tuesday (September 2) after the pooch was treated at Donaldson’s Vets in Yorkshire regularly over the past 12 months.

Border Collie, Ace is part of the Oldham Mountain Rescue Team in Greater Manchester – a group of volunteers who provide a professional rescue service 24 hours a day, all year round. As the episode aired, Rick recorded Ace’s reaction to seeing himself and later shared it to TikTok. “What happens when you see your self on TV!” Rick penned in a caption.

After spotting his owner on the show, Ace suddenly became intrigued and his eyes became glued to the screen. And once he appeared in mock search operation himself, he appeared to turn to Rick to get his attention.

Barking Ace, who enthusiastically carries out his work by chasing a ball during searches. And adorably, he appeared to become excited at the prospect of playing with a ball after seeing himself do so on screen.

One viewer gushed in response: “Aww the head tilts when he sees himself.”

A second person added: “Wow that was cute. He knew your voice instantly.”

A third praised: “That dog’s so smart. You’ve done a really good job with that dog.”

Whilst a fourth TikTok user noted: “He fully understands that’s him and his family on screen, but because he understands and sees them in front of him physically too.

“Not knowing what a TV/recording is in a human sense, he’s just trying too ask how we both places at once even though he knows their physically in the living room.”

Meanwhile, a fifth declared: “What an adorable dog.”

Rick also shared another clip of Ace watching television carrying out his “party trick”. In it the impressive pooch is seen watching Channel 4’s Countdown where he howls just as the show’s iconic jingle as clock strikes 30 seconds signalling time’s up for contestants.

Oldham Mountain Rescue Team’s states on Facebook that it was formed in 1964 and is just one of 60 volunteer Mountain & Cave Rescue Teams providing a search and rescue services in the Peak District National Park and the rural and urban areas of Greater Manchester.

It adds: “The team helps the Police in other search activities in areas and conditions where they may not have adequate, resources or experience.

“In addition to mountain rescue and search activities, the team is available as a back up for the ambulance and fire services at busy times, during severe weather, major incident or where our specialist skills are needed.”
