A golden retriever couldn’t contain her excitement after her owner, Ashtyn Hawthorne from North Carolina, surprised her by adopting her ‘best friend’ to be her new brother
Dog lovers have been left in tears after seeing the moment a dog realised it had gained a sibling after its owners adopted her ‘best friend’.
Ashtyn Hawthorne from North Carolina has often taken to TikTok, where she has over 89,100 followers, to share snippets of her life, which often included her golden retriever, Sadie. However, Ashtyn believed Sadie was in need of a permanent play buddy, which is when she and her partner decided to adopt a second dog to surprise her with. And her reaction has left people in tears.
In the video, Sadie is seen sitting inside by the glass door, as she looks outside, clearly waiting for something, or someone, to appear. She excitedly wags her tail back and forth as she struggles to sit still due to her excitement.
Sadie then couldn’t contain herself, as she ran back into the room before quickly rushing back to the front door, as she didn’t want to miss whoever she was expecting to walk by.
As soon as Rio, another golden retriever, appeared from behind a car, along with two humans, Sadie can be seen letting out an excited bark as her tail wagging became more intense.
Sadie then continues to bark as Rio and the others made their way to the door, while she excitedly waited from inside, still wagging her tail.
“The moment that our dog realised we rescued the foster dog that she had a playdate with,” the overlay text read.
The video then ended the moment Rio spotted her from inside the garage, as he also realised he had gained a new sibling.
In a follow up video, Ashtyn went on to share clips to show just how close the two dogs had gotten, as she showed them playing and cuddling together.
“We adopted him and they’ve been best friends ever since,” she wrote on the overlay on the video.
And the dogs weren’t the only ones excited, as hundreds of viewers soon took to the comment section to share their own excitement about the two dogs having found each other.
“That’s her bestie,” one user wrote, while another said: “Omg that excited tail. She’s so happy. Who’s cutting onions stop it I can’t.”
Someone else commented: “She realised that she got a new sibling and it’s her best friend.”
“Why did you cut it off, I want to see them playing!” a fourth user said.
Another went on to share their own experience rescuing a second dog, as they shared: “We brought home a foster from doggy daycare and she was just as excited as yours. Now they wake me up together every morning.”
