An expert has warned road users to keep an essential item in their cars at all times in case they need to take medication or should an emergency occur, such as a breakdown or accident
Motorists have been given a heads-up for their summer road trips, with a reminder to pack an essential item.
Shahzad Sheikh, the man behind the popular YouTube channel Brown Car Guy, has teamed up with breakdown cover provider Start Rescue to offer some sage advice to drivers. Shahzad emphasised the importance of carrying any necessary medication when setting off on even the shortest of journeys.
He explained: “So, as a typical scenario, you go to the shops or local supermarket. It might be just a few miles away, but you’ve left your stuff at home. If that’s something that you really need or something that is quite urgent for you, keep in mind that things happen.
“Traffic happens, bad weather happens, tyres get punctured, you have a breakdown, you never know. So, always pack medication with you.” He stressed the significance of not leaving behind any meds that might be needed later, even if it seems like a quick trip.
Shahzad added: “I don’t have any medication that I’m on, but I am prone to headaches – I get them quite often. As a result, in my bag or jacket pocket, I will always keep some ibuprofen with me. If I’m heading out on a longer journey, whether its in my car or otherwise, I’ll always have that with me.
“It’s always a really good idea, especially if you’re travelling in an area where it could be hard to find a shop or pharmacy,” reports Birmingham Live. Lee Puffet, the managing director of Start Rescue, advised: “No matter how far you are going, keep a small supply of in-date medication in a safe place in the vehicle where children cannot gain access, such as a locked glovebox. Take a copy of your prescription, too, if you are going further afield in case you need extra, especially with the summer holiday getaway approaching.”
